Last night's payout job never finished. The logs stop at "fetching balance for sel_8KQ2" around 01:04 UTC and there's nothing after that - no error, no "payouts done" line - until we killed it at 07:00. The payments provider's status page shows a partial outage from 01:00 to 02:30 with API requests timing out. Every seller after that one didn't get paid. Can you make the job robust to this, so a stalled provider can't hang it? run_commandnpm testVerify test suite runs cleanlytrue5000run_commandnode src/jobs/nightly-payouts.jsTest nightly-payouts CLI execution on failuretrue5000Root Cause The job stalled atfetching balance for sel_8KQ2because standardfetchin src/clients/payments.js did not configure a request timeout or abort signal. When the payments provider suffered an outage and stopped responding to requests mid-connection,fetchhung indefinitely waiting for the socket. Because the promise never resolved or rejected: - No error was caught in the seller loop. - Execution never advanced to subsequent sellers (leaving all subsequent sellers unpaid). - The process remained stuck until killed hours later. --- Changes Made 1. Configurable Request Timeouts (src/clients/payments.js): - Configured anAbortSignal.timeout(timeoutMs)on all outgoing fetch calls (defaulting to 10 seconds, configurable viatimeoutMsoption orPAYMENTS_TIMEOUT_MSenvironment variable). - This signal covers connection establishment, response headers, and streaming the response body. 2. Timeout Error Retries (src/retry.js): - UpdatedisRetryableto treatTimeoutErrorandAbortErroras retryable transient errors, retrying with exponential backoff before bubbling up. Payout requests remain safe because they include idempotency keys (payout-${seller.id}-${today}). 3. Unhandled Rejection Protection (src/jobs/nightly-payouts.js): - Added.catch()handling in the CLI runner so iflistSellerstimes out or fails at job startup, the error is logged cleanly and exits with status1. 4. Seller Isolation: - Because each seller is isolated in atry / catchblock in runNightlyPayouts, when a seller's request times out and exhausts retries, it is recorded insummary.failedand the job proceeds to pay the next sellers. --- Tests Added ([test/payouts.test.js](file:///home/«REDACTED:user»/Desktop/Payments/test/payouts.test.js)) - Transient balance stalls: Verifies that a stalledgetBalancerequest times out aftertimeoutMs, retries with backoff, and succeeds on the next attempt. - Stalled seller isolation: Verifies that when a seller permanently stalls during an outage, the request times out, records the seller insummary.failed, and continues paying subsequent sellers without hanging. - Stalled payout POST: Verifies that a stalled payout creation times out and retries safely using the idempotency key. - Stalled response body: Verifies that if the provider sends headers but hangs transmitting the body, the timeout aborts and retries. All tests pass: ``` ✔ pays every seller over the minimum and skips the rest ✔ a 503 from the provider is retried ✔ a stalled balance request times out and is retried ✔ a stalled seller times out, fails, and does not block subsequent sellers ✔ a stalled payout POST request times out and is retried safely ✔ a stalled response body times out and is retried ```
